“Best Lawyer for Elder Law and Trusts – Kellen established a revocable trust for my parents and was very helpful when they passed away. I was so impressed by his knowledge of elder law and trusts that my husband and I hired him to establish a revocable trust for us. When my husband passed away, I was able to go to Kellen to get new certification of the trust with me as the sole trustee. He advised me about certain issues and handled property concerns. Kellen made it so easy for me. I have recommended him to my sister for her own trust and to many of my friends. His office is inviting and the staff are cordial and helpful.”

“My wife and I hired this law firm 25 years ago to help us navigate the Medicaid system for both her parents. They did an outstanding job. Fast forward to the year 2020 and I return to this same law firm for help, this time it’s for my wife. I met with Mr. Kellen Bryant for a consultation of her case. I found Kellen to be a very well read lawyer in elder care, he impressed me with his empathy, his compassion, and his willingness to go the extra mile for his client. His staff are the best! They kept me informed of every detail of my wife’s case. I could call them at anytime and they would always answer any questions I might have. They walked me through the various stages of her case. I can’t express in words how much these young professionals made a very difficult situation for me bearable, with what I was going through emotionally. Kellen and his whole staff are the finest people you would ever want to help you with elder law issues. To me they are above all the rest, and I say this from experience.”
Richard

“Mr. Bryant and Ms. Trinca-Conley are very knowledgeable with regards to Elder Law. The Florida Bar Association recommends using only Board Certified attorneys and Mr. Bryant is only 1 of 4 that I found in Duval county. I was very satisfied with the Berg Bryant Elder Law Group, PLLC law firm handling my affairs.”
Gregory

“Kellen helped us during an incredibly challenging time. My elderly cousin failed to have her legal affairs in order. She was aware that one of her trustees had died and the other was dealing with dementia. Her trustee with dementia was also her power of attorney. She had been totally capable of meeting with her attorney and changing her power of attorney and trustee, told us she was doing it, and never took action.

My cousin asked for help changing her power of attorney and trustee after an unexpected hospitalization. Unfortunately, her attorney was unavailable. Another attorney in the office was unwilling to make changes after talking with my cousin on the phone, in preparation for an in-person meeting. My cousin didn’t want to deal with the law firm with her own attorney being unavailable during this time. I was now searching for an elder care attorney.

Kellen was several hours away from us but came highly recommended. Every contact with the office was handled with sensitivity and professionalism. While I waited for our consultation appointment with Kellen, I was able to speak with the person who helps clients pursue Medicaid nursing home funding. My cousin had some assets, but with the cost of a nursing home, it wasn’t going to last long. I received my “homework list” and got to work gathering the required documentation.

Every effort I made to advocate for my cousin was met with a brick wall, as I wasn’t her power of attorney. Her roof needed to be replaced as buyers couldn’t obtain financing on a home with a 24 years old roof. I couldn’t even get her home on a waiting list because the roofer couldn’t obtain permits without a power of attorney. My cousin’s power of attorney was insisting the house be sold “as is”, as he was unable to understand the situation with financing. He was creating issues with the estate sale my cousin had indicated she wanted. He wanted the house sold with everything in it. No one would want to buy a home with all of the possessions of the previous owner.

My brother-in-law and I were so relieved when we were able to talk with Kellen. We discussed my cousin having more and more confusion each day. There were times she was lucid and times she wasn’t.

We discussed options including changing my cousin’s power of attorney and trustee if she was lucid when Kellen would meet with her, the process for applying for Medicaid nursing home funding, and guardianship if necessary to ensure that my cousin’s needs were met. Kellen gave specific instructions for me to follow up on. He patiently answered our questions and clarified when I needed to hear the information again.

After two months of trying to advocate for my cousin, talking to Kellen was the first time I felt someone could guide us through the process to protect my cousin. Kellen listened to our concerns and communicated clearly what needed to happen. He also advised what the approximate cost would be.

My cousin was hospitalized the evening that we consulted with Kellen, and passed within days. Our family received a very kind sympathy card from Kellen and others in the office.

The stress during my cousin’s decline was unbelievable. I was trying to advocate for my cousin while working full-time and living 2.5 hours away. We don’t have any other family in the state. I wish that we’d had Kellen and his law firm from the very beginning, as our experience would have been so different. I was very sad during this time that when I traveled each week to be with my cousin, my time was going to try to deal with the mess of her legal affairs not being in order. I was able to spend time with my cousin, but not as much as I would have liked due to her legal mess.

The day we met with Kellen was the first time I felt I could take a deep breath in two months. If you are dealing with advocating for an elderly loved one, Kellen would be a great attorney for you.”

“They call my wife and I made to Kellen Bryant’s law office is one of the best calls, given its results, we have ever made.

My mother-in-law, near ninety, recently had a near-death medical emergency—911, ER, Hospital, Rehab—that changed her life and ours suddenly, traumatically, and permanently. In a matter of weeks, with limited financial resources, she went from living independently in a small condo she owned to long-term care in a Skilled Nursing Facility.

Kellen counseled us to apply for Medicaid, explained the process to us in fine detail, and with his paralegals, Julie Lastinger and Christian Clouser, guided us every step of the way.

My mother-in-law is living now, and for as long as forever is, exactly where she should be living—with the skilled nursing care she requires and no money worries. We could not have hoped for more?

Kellen, Julie, and Christian are deeply humane in their practice of the law as it has to do with elders. When, along the way, my wife and I “wobbled” under the weight and press of it all, they steadied us. We were, are, and will always be grateful to them. They gave us far more than our money’s worth.

It is not sufficient to say, here, that Kellen, Julie, and Christian are “good at what they do.” Quite simply, they are the best. My wife and I are already referring our family and friends to Kellen’s firm, and we will be using them ourselves for all our future elder law needs.”
William

“I was very pleased with the advise and direction we received from Attorney Kellen Bryant. Mr. Bryant and his staff thoroughly explained the process and details involved in managing my father’s estate. Without their services, the process of closing my father’s estate would have been overwhelming. Thanks to this firm’s experience and knowledge, everything transpired very smoothly. Thank you.”
Serena

“My brother & I recently had an appointment with Kellen Bryant to go over some financials concerning our Mother. Kellen was great! He gave us very good information about Medicaid, how it works & how it would help our Mom. Also,  about updating her Will, how we should handle her home & power of attorney & other legal, governmental, state & medical issues.

If you are in the same boat it’s worth the consult to understand what you’re up against. We’ll be going back to finish up her legal matters. We highly recommend Berg & Bryant!”
Diann

“My brother and I had so many issues with my poor loving Mom suffering with Alzheimer’s – applying for Medicaid assistance, VA assistance, finding a suitable place for her when we could no longer give her the proper care she needed. Kellen and his staff helped us through the entire long process. Our questions were answered right away, we were given a checklist of items we needed to do and items he and his staff would do. They treated us with kindness the entire 8 months we needed advice. Sadly Mom passed away in October 2018 but to my surprise, we received a kind phone call and a card signed by the entire staff. I would recommend this firm for any Elder Law issue!!”
Brenda

“Kellen and his team (Julie and Christian) are outstanding in every respect. During a very trying and stressful time in my life, they gave me the guidance consul that I needed to make this transition in our lives as easy as possible. Always responsive and quick to jump in and help with anything I needed, they provided professional, top quality service. I would highly recommend them and will use them in the future.”
Brodie

“The Folks here are great very professional easy to work with and understand what you are going through. They helped me get my wife onto Medicaid quickly, they did my wife and mine power of attorney, health care person and my will. They came to the nursing home and talked with us and when they needed both of us to sign paperwork because my wife can’t leave the nursing home except on a stretcher. We received great advice and help from everyone one and will go back to them to redo my wife’s Medicaid renewal when it is time to.”

Robert

“This firm did an excellent job in helping get my mother’s Medicaid. If you compare the cost of the attorney fee with the cost of just one month in a nursing home without Medicaid, you will find that it is a good investment. It was too complicated to file without professional assistance. They were courteous, always available to answer our many questions, and very thorough. I would not hesitate to recommend them.”

Linda

“I cannot say enough good things about Mr. Bryant and his firm. I had recently taken over handling my parents’ finances and many of their other day to day responsibilities. My parents are not really elderly by age, but one is physically disabled and the other is losing her mental capacity. The medical and legal issues that we began facing seemed daunting. We really needed the advice of a competent lawyer in this field to help us navigate these very complex issues. Mr. Bryant met with me and my parents and put us at ease from the start. His warm and caring demeanor was clearly apparent from the outset. He was able to alleviate all of the current concerns we had, and he set us up for success going forward with all that we will be facing that we never even thought of. Mr. Bryant did this all while showing the utmost respect, understanding, and patience for my parents that allowed them to maintain their dignity under circumstances that are very personal and difficult for anyone. Mr. Bryant truly went out of his way to make sure we were completely satisfied with his services and there was nothing left open. It truly meant the world to me and my parents and definitely spoke to Mr. Bryant’s character and professionalism. Thanks again Kellen!

To anyone out there needing help with your family/elderly estate planning and looking for the right lawyer, I can say with absolute confidence that Kellen Bryant and his firm are the right choice.”

Matt

“From the initial consultation regarding my elderly father’s care to the completion of his estate proceedings, I appreciated the thorough knowledge Mr. Bryant had of the subject matter, and the professionalism, patience and consideration of Jennifer, Stacy and Carla in helping me navigate a difficult period. There is so much that a person should know regarding the cost of care and legal procedures associated with a loved one in failing health that most of us are simply unaware of. I highly recommend Mr. Bryant and his staff, if you’re facing this situation. And I mean that truly!”

Lance

“I was highly recommended from a close family friend to reach out to Mr. Bryant do to the loss of my brother Steven. From the first phone call to his office to the last document signed, Mr. Bryant and his staff were extremely honest, compassionate and very professional. They always gave me their undivided attention with a true feeling of concern during this sad and challenging time my family and I were going through. I would highly recomend Mr. Bryant to anyone in need of estate planning and /or probate counsel. I would also like to add a special shout out to Stacy L Burlog, ACP, she was amazing. Thank you very much for all your help.”

Glen

“I was referred to Kellen for a consultation regarding my sibling who was recently placed in a nursing home. My sister had a unique situation that required the attention of someone who knew his/her way around the maze of paperwork. I could tell within the first 10-15 minutes of our initial consultation that I was referred to the correct person for my needs.

Kellen and his entire staff are wonderful. Kellen has the knowledge and a way of explaining the situation/strategy that puts your mind at ease and also welcomes your input and ideas. He emphasizes a team approach, both with his staff and his client.

Every interaction I had with Kellen or his staff left me thinking “this firm understands what customer service is”. All phone calls were returned in a timely manner and his paralegal, Julie, was also a pleasure to work with.

I would highly recommend this firm for your elder care needs.”

Charlie

“Mr. Bryant worked with me on settling my father’s estate during the past year. He had a full grasp of the issues and was extremely responsive when ever I had a question. I also felt his fees were reasonable, considering his amount of expertise. His thinking is “outside the box” and always attempted to address issues creatively. In addition, his support staff was knowledgeable, professional and a “value add” to his practice- they were always delightful. I would hire him again without hesitation and have recommended him to my Florida based siblings for their estate planning.”

Mark

“Kellen is a fantastic attorney and I’m very glad to have had his help.

He was instrumental in helping my aunt and uncle navigate the challenges of setting up a long-term care plan.

As a guy who asks a lot of questions (and having an aunt that does the same), I was so grateful to find a patient and skilled counselor. Kellen was able to make the complex easy for us to understand. Because of his skill, we now have a working plan that is providing care for my uncle and piece of mind for my aunt.

I highly recommend Kellen to anyone who needs help with any elder care legal issue. He was a tremendous asset to us and I’m eternally grateful to him for his help!”

Carl

“Kellen was very helpful in many circumstances over a period of several years in helping with our brother-in-law’s care. He was very personable and attended to everything needed in a timely manner. Thank you to him for helping my brother-in-law’s daughter with very important and necessary decisions. It made her job possible and not so difficult!”

A Satisfied Client

“R. Kellen Bryant did an excellent job of compiling and completing end of life documents, securing a Veterans stream for a qualified Veteran and preliminary work for Medicaid and estate closure. All documents were written to current standards and completed in reasonable and efficient timing for purposes required. Mr. Bryant is extremely talented, intelligent and conscientious at what he does. He answers questions directly and is very caring and respectful to the elderly, as well as others. Mr. Bryant was an invaluable help in finding a suitable place of elder residence that could provide a more advanced level of care within a home-like environment. Our family was very impressed with Mr. Bryant’s services and valued his honesty and integrity. We would gladly recommend his services for anyone having a variety of eldercare concerns. R. Kellen Bryant made the hard times a lot easier by being an expert at eldercare law and is certainly deserving of the cost. We extend our appreciation and thanks to him and his staff.”

Victoria

“Kellen Bryant was highly recommended to my family from a friend who had received good results from his assistance in her parents’ situation. I originally met with him and immediately felt comfortable with his cordial demeanor. After hearing about our mother’s situation, he laid out several options my family could consider in trying to lessen the financial burden of taking care of her physical and medical needs. My request for a written explanation of our lengthy discussion was honored; therefore, my brother and sister were able to weigh our options based on Kellen’s words, not just my memory of our conversation. The three of us met with him, again, to get more clarification on the steps required to move our mother’s situation/case through the system. Although some of our required tasks seemed complex and, at times, confusing, Kellen and his staff willingly guided us through every step of the way. The ultimate results of all of our efforts were positive! With determination and perseverance on my family’s part, along with professionalism, expertise, and patience with us on Kellen’s/staff’s part, a seemingly impossible task was accomplished! Our goal of meeting our mother’s physical and financial needs as a patient/resident of a nursing care facility was met through the personal and caring attention of Kellen Bryant, his staff, and associates. For this, my family and I will be forever grateful.”

“After seeing a notification in the Florida Times Union newspaper re an upcoming meeting re Medicaide application process I attended and at the conclusion I was convinced I needed Kellen’s help. My mother (97 years old) needed assistance with the application process that I was trying to accomplish. Kellen and his staff immediately prepared necessary documents, made application and in a much shorter time than I expected, received the approval for my Mom. During the entire process I received help from Kellen and his staff in gathering the data required. I was kept informed of the progress during the time waiting for the application to be reviewed. Kellen has been diligent with his continued assistance during the process as questions have come over billing questions as will always happen. The application process is quite difficult and it became clear to me early on that I had made the right decision in going to Kellen and his staff for assistance. I highly recommend Kellen Bryant and his competent staff to work with you through the Medicaid process.”

Jan

“Kellen is one of the most knowledgeable and reasonable attorneys in Jacksonville in the field of elder care law. All of the legal documents were completed timely specific to my Mom’s needs. I also applied for VA benefits as my Mom is receiving in-home 24/7 care. His law firm has a great business relationship with the VA and the application was priortized. The VA benefis arrived within 3 months of the application being sent to the VA. Most of us are taking on the role of elder care management with our parent(s) and I highly recomment Kellen for helping you to solve all of the legal matters that you may need regarding your particular situation.”

Guardianship Client

Attorney Carla Trinca-Conley, Esq. Testimonials:

“Carla provided an excellent consultation for our family regarding elder guardianship proceedings and all it entails. This was our first experience with an attorney, and she provided instant action items we could take on our own without having to retain legal services. I never expected an attorney to actively encourage the least litigious course of action possible, but Carla’s heart is to truly honor elders by finding the best possible outcome for both their care and the family’s peace of mind. Carla helped our family navigate a potential crisis in the least intrusive manner possible. I cannot explain the immediate lifting of what was becoming an incredible weight on our shoulders. In one consultation, she gave us renewed hope. We are forever grateful, and would not hesitate to retain Carla if there is a need.”
Debbie

“Experienced, Knowledgeable, Kind and Compassionate – We were seeking an attorney to assist us with the unexpected task of Guardianship for our daughter nearing eighteen. A rare genetic disorder resulted in some mild intellectual disabilities for our daughter and forced us to seek protection for us in her affairs. We were clueless on the impacts and requirements not to mention quite emotional about the process. Carla kindly guided us through our options and made recommendations to fit our situation. She took into account our needs, financial concerns and was courteous in keeping our daughter as the priority. Carla and her team kept the process moving smoothly and quickly. When it was time for Carla to meet our daughter she made her feel comfortable and even followed up with a staff birthday card for her. The experience was not one we anticipated but were thankful to have Carla lead us through to completion. We would recommend her services and will seek her counsel again in the future.”

“It’s easy to tell if someone is listening. Are they figuring out how to help? Is there a light on in there eyes, that’s there to help you and guide you through your darkest times. Confidence in their words that says I got this. The feeling when you realize you called the right person. Though my heart and brain still feel heavy. I trust I’ve made a good choice, but to be true Mom already knew.”
Neil

“As a recent widow, with no children and a high-risk patient, facing upcoming surgery, I needed to put my affairs in order. A new friend had recommended the Berg Bryant Elder Law Group.

Being medically homebound, arrangements were made and I met CARLA TRINCA-CONLEY, a joyously spirited young lady, with a great sense of humanity and kindness.
Accompanied by her wonderful assistant GRAY, a delightful young gentleman who is quite accomplished and as is CARLA, quite genuine.

This law team made complicated issues easy to understand. They saw to it my final wishes were documented as I wanted them to be and that I was reassured of its protection and execution.

I was made to feel as a client should feel. Respected and heard. And cared about after the bill was paid. I feel a true fondness for CARLA, GRAY, JOANNE and LIZ in the office as well. Sincerely.

I highly recommend this magnificent young attorney CARLA TRINCA-CONLEY.”

But thanks to Carla and the team at Berg Bryant Elder Law Group, we pulled together all the documents needed to allow only a simple filing of the will, which Carla had already taken care of by the day of our appointment! Instead of a Hail Mary, we got a Hail Carla! Bless her and all the staff at the law group that has served us meticulously since 2009.”

We left feeling very encouraged and clear about next steps.”

“Carla could not have been a better blend of professional and personal for taking care of the affairs of my older brother. She very patiently and competently answered both my questions and my older brother’s questions, as we updated his estate papers and various Powers of Attorney.
